Overview

## What household waste removal covers in Manchester

### What the service is
Household waste removal is the collection of the things your wheelie bin will never take: sofas, beds, wardrobes, fridges, washing machines, bagged clutter, old toys, boxes of paperwork, garage overflow and the general accumulation of living somewhere for a few years. One visit, everything loaded, everything disposed of legally.

### Who it's for
Families clearing out, people moving house, tenants at the end of a let, landlords resetting a property, and anyone who has been meaning to deal with the spare room for two years.

### When it's needed
Before a move, after a move, when a room needs to become a nursery or an office, when the council bulky waste service has a three-week wait, or when the garage has stopped being usable as a garage.

### Why professional help matters
Bulky household waste is heavy, awkward and, once loaded into a car, usually not accepted at a household waste recycling centre in a van or a trailer without a permit. We carry it, we have the vehicle and licence to move it legally, and we do it in an afternoon rather than across four weekends.

Leave it and it costs more

## What happens if it’s left
Clutter is quiet until it costs you money: deposit deductions, a delayed move, a room you pay a mortgage on but cannot use.

- End-of-tenancy deductions for items left behind, which are usually charged at more than a clearance would have cost.
- Old mattresses and upholstered furniture harbour dust mites, mould and, in bad cases, bed bugs: a health issue as well as a storage one.
- Damaged white goods left in a garage leak oils and refrigerants, which is both a legal and a contamination problem.
- A blocked garage or spare room means paying for outside storage that would not be needed if the room worked.
- Removal firms charge by volume: moving clutter to a new house is paying twice to keep things you do not want.
### Common mistakes we see

- Waiting for a council bulky collection with a long lead time and a strict item limit when a deadline is coming.
- Trying to take a van or trailer load to a recycling centre without checking permit rules.
- Splitting the job into separate collections and paying the minimum charge three times.
- Leaving a fridge or freezer out on the pavement; that becomes a fly-tipping offence attached to your address.

Our process

## How the job runs, start to finish

- 1
### Call or send photos
Tell us the postcode and what needs shifting, or send a couple of photographs. We work out the volume and access from that: no waiting on a surveyor.

- 2
### Fixed price agreed
You get one clear figure before anything is booked, based on volume, weight and access. It does not change unless you add to the job.

- 3
### Time slot confirmed
We confirm a day and a time window, including evenings and weekends, and ring you before we set off so you are not waiting in.

- 4
### Cleared and swept
Our crew does all the carrying and loading, segregates timber and metal for recycling, and brushes the area through before we leave.

- 5
### Legally disposed, documented
The load goes to a licensed commercial waste facility. Pay by card, cash or transfer, and ask for a waste transfer note for your records.

What you get

## Why customers book household waste removal with Fisher

### One visit, not four weekends

A whole household's worth of bulky waste is normally cleared inside a few hours, including the carrying, the loading and the disposal.

### No lifting, no van hire

Our crew handles the stairs and the awkward corners. You do not need to hire a van, borrow a friend or risk your back on a sofa.

### Priced by space, capped up front

£60 for a single item, with larger loads quoted individually, and everything in between quoted before we start loading.

### White goods handled correctly

Fridges, freezers and washing machines are separated for the right disposal stream rather than crushed into a mixed load.

### Tenancy deadlines met

Seven-day working to 10pm means a property can be emptied the night before a check-out inspection rather than the week after it.

### Left brushed up

Once the load is on, the space is swept. That is the difference between a room you can use and a room you still have to deal with.

In detail

## Household Waste Removal in Manchester: the detail that matters

### Typical household items we collect
If it came out of a house and it is not hazardous, it can generally go on the van.

- Sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, divans and headboards
- Wardrobes, drawers, dining tables, chairs and flat-pack furniture
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and cookers
- Televisions, computers and small electricals
- Carpets, rugs, curtains, bedding and bagged clothing
- Toys, books, boxed paperwork, garage and shed contents

### Single items, part loads and full loads
A single-item collection is the cheapest entry point at £60, and there is a £60 minimum job value. If you have four or five bulky items it is almost always cheaper to combine them into one part-load visit than to book separately. A full load is quoted individually and covers what most people would need a large skip for: which is the usual size of a proper garage or spare-room clear-out.

### Flats, HMOs and difficult access
Third-floor flats without lifts, communal stairwells, restricted parking bays and shared bin areas are normal Manchester conditions and we plan for them. Where access is tight we break down furniture on site so it can be carried out safely rather than dragged through a stairwell and damaging communal decoration.

### Preparing for a collection
You do not need to do much. Bagging small loose items speeds the load and can reduce the volume you pay for. Empty drawers and wardrobes so we are not carrying weight that does not need to leave. If anything is not to be taken, mark it clearly or move it into another room; we would always rather double-check than take something you wanted.

### Disposal route
Timber furniture is recycled, metals and white goods are separated, and mixed general household waste goes to a licensed commercial waste facility. As a registered waste carrier we can issue a waste transfer note on request, which is worth having if you are a tenant or landlord evidencing that a property was cleared properly.

Common questions

## Household Waste Removal questions, answered straight
How much is household waste removal in Manchester? From £60 for a single item with a £60 minimum job value, and larger loads quoted individually. Part loads sit in between and are quoted before we load.

Can you collect a sofa or mattress today?Usually yes. We run 7am to 10pm seven days a week, so same-day and evening collections are often available.

Do you take fridges and freezers?Yes. White goods are collected and separated for the correct disposal route rather than being loaded into general waste.

Do I need to carry it outside first? No. We collect from inside the property (upstairs, garage, garden or loft) and the labour is included in the quoted price.

Is this cheaper than the council bulky waste service? The council service can be cheaper per item but usually has item limits, kerbside-only rules and a wait of a week or more. We collect from inside, take any quantity and can often come the same day.

Can you clear a garage or a spare room?Yes, that is one of the most common jobs we do. It normally works out as a part or full load depending on how much is in there.

Do you clear on weekends?Yes, seven days a week including evenings up to 10pm.

What can't you take?Asbestos, chemicals, solvents, gas bottles, clinical waste and bulk tyres. Mention anything unusual when you call.

Will you sweep up afterwards?Yes. The area is brushed through once the load is on before we leave.

How do I pay?Card, cash or bank transfer on the day.
